There has been a lot of news from the media lately of online shopping scams, with scammers pretending to be legitimate online sellers, either with a fake website or a fake ad on a genuine retailer site.

With modern technology they can copy logos, business names and ABN numbers.

The Australian Government have a Scamwatch web page which is worth reading.  It states that you should consider buying from Australian websites whenever possible , as if a problem arises, you have a much better chance of having your payment returned.

Always use a website with a padlock at the beginning of the web address, and it should start with https://xxxxxx.com.au

Leather Belts – Real Leather or Synthetic Leather ?

Do you know the difference ?

How can you tell ?

Synthetic Leather is called by many different names, such as PU Leather, Faux Leather, Leatherette and more.  The main types of synthetic leather are PU Leather (polyurethane) and PVC (poly vinyl)

The benefit of Synthetic Leather is that it is easier to clean and cheaper to produce, therefore cheaper to purchase for the buyer.

The problems are that Synthetic Leather does not last very long, not flexible and can crack, peel or separate over time.  Sometimes real leather remnants are mixed with polyurethane plastic to manufacture PU Leather.

How to tell the difference ?  PU Leather vs Real Solid Leather

• A good indication is a low price

• The label may say PU Leather

• PU Leather is usually quite smooth and uniform in appearance

• You may see where PU Leather has been glued around the edges of the belt

• It usually has a plastic smell, which does not match the smell of Real Solid Leather

Our Real Solid Leather Belts come from Cowhide and then is Tanned to prevent decomposition and then it becomes useable to manufacture products.

As previously said, Synthetic Leather can begin to crack, peel or split after a few years, however Real Solid Leather can last 10 to 20 years or even more.  So which is more economical over time ?

Real Cowhide Solid Leather gets better with age, however the initial cost is more than Synthetic Leather, but as they say, you only get what you pay for.  Real Solid Leather is likely to have some imperfections, depending on the condition of the hide it was taken from, compared to Synthetic Leather which is manmade from artificial products.

Real Solid Leather also takes a long time to burn, however Synthetic Leather will burn instantly, but not a nice procedure to do when you are shopping for a belt.

Lastly, as said previously, ”you only get what you pay for” as Real Solid Leather belts will last many times longer than Synthetic Leather belts..

In the lead up to the traditionally busy peak period, I’d like to share our recommended domestic last lodgement dates for deliveries in time for Christmas.

Christmas lodgement dates for sending within Australia for our Business and Government Customers

We are recommending all items are lodged by the following dates for delivery within Australia by Christmas:
• Parcel Post: Friday 16 December*
• Express Post: Wednesday 21 December*
* Excludes WA and NT  UPDATE for WA

Well according to the Australia Post email below, it is now too late to post parcels so that you receive your orders before Christmas.  I.E. Monday 13th December for standard parcels and Monday 20th December for express, except WA and NT, which are Wednesday 8th December for standard parcels and Wednesday 15th December for express.   We suggest express post for all parcels from now on.
